Overstock.com Standardizes on GoldenGate for Transactional Data Management

Leading Online Retailer Selects GoldenGate Software for High Availability and Disaster Recovery, Zero-Downtime Migrations, Real-Time Data Warehousing

San Francisco, Calif. - August 1, 2005 - GoldenGate Software Inc., the leading provider of transactional data management solutions, today announced that Overstock.comŽ (Nasdaq: OSTK) has selected GoldenGate to manage the leading Internet retailer's high volumes of data across the enterprise. Overstock.com plans to deploy GoldenGate solutions for zero-downtime system migrations, high availability and disaster recovery, and real-time data warehousing, reporting and analytics initiatives. Serving millions of customers via its popular online retail outlet, Overstock.com selected GoldenGate to reduce infrastructure costs, minimize overhead and enable real-time data for enhanced customer analytics.

"The more we learn about GoldenGate, the more we recognize the technology's value in supporting multiple projects currently underway," said Shawn Schwegman, senior vice president of technology for Overstock.com. "Partnering with GoldenGate enables us to migrate hardware, database, and operating system environments, and to continue to make upgrades over time, without compromising quality of service to our customers. In terms of its breadth and flexibility, GoldenGate was the only solution capable of meeting our needs."

GoldenGate Streamlines Operations, Overstock.com Plans for Future Growth
Overstock.com will roll out the project in several phases. Initially, as Overstock.com upgrades from Oracle 9i RAC to Oracle 10g, GoldenGate will facilitate system migrations with zero downtime. Overstock.com will also standardize on GoldenGate for high availability and disaster recovery on its online production sites - replacing home-grown scripts and batch processes for added reliability and efficiencies. And GoldenGate will serve a major role in real-time data warehousing for the online retailer: moving data into a Teradata warehouse for performing in-depth customer analytics.

Across the organization, GoldenGate will provide the foundation for Overstock.com to improve operations and better serve its customers. "GoldenGate is contributing significantly to streamlining the infrastructure, while leveraging existing IT investments for a deeper view of the customer," explained Tim Rathbun, executive vice president of marketing and product management at GoldenGate. "But we are also looking ahead with Overstock.com to plan for additional demand. Ultimately, GoldenGate will enable a scalable infrastructure for performance gains in a distributed computing environment."

GoldenGate has over 230 customers and 1500 product installations worldwide. The company's solutions are used to manage business initiatives including high availability and disaster recovery, high performance distributed computing, transactional data integration, and compliance.
