GoldenGate® Real-Time 2006 User Conference Points to Growing Significance of Continuous Availability for Real-Time Information

Attendees Gather at Four Seasons, Las Vegas for Industry Keynotes, Customer Presentations, Special Interest Groups & Partner Expo

San Francisco, Calif. - July 5, 2006 - GoldenGate Software Inc., the leading provider of transactional data management solutions, announced the conclusion of its annual international user conference: three days of networking, product demonstrations and business, education and best practices sessions, in addition to newly formed special interest groups (SIGs) in banking and healthcare. The conference expo area showcased sponsors and partners including ACI Worldwide, Teradata (a division of NCR Corporation), GE Healthcare, Sunopsis, HP, FSS and Integrated Research. GoldenGate Real-Time 2006 took place June 12-14, 2006, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, where close to 200 attendees gathered to discuss trends in continuous availability of mission-critical systems and real-time data integration.

"This year's international user conference focused on the importance of real-time information in the context of continuous availability and data integration for mission-critical systems, at a deeper level and from the customer perspective," said Ali Kutay, Chairman and CEO of GoldenGate. "Real-time access to real-time information will become the standard for enterprise applications over the next few years - and we believe that our customers' current and ongoing projects will lead the way. Real-Time 2006 proved a tremendous success at bringing together large, global organizations to discuss universal issues, trends and best practices, setting the stage for the future of GoldenGate's technology."

The event's keynote address was given by Larry R. DeBoever, CEO and chief research officer of Infonomics Research, Inc., who is a world-renowned expert on the transformation of business through information technology. DeBoever, who was formerly with Hitachi and the META Group (now Gartner), has over 30 years of experience in distributed systems. During the keynote presentation, "iPod as a Real-Time Metaphor," DeBoever shared his views on "the time value of information" and how to build and manage successful real-time systems. DeBoever pointed out that yesterday's right time can be today's "wrong time," and forward-thinking organizations should instead be designing for real-time.

A common theme throughout the sessions was not only tying data together for a single, real-time view of the business, the patient or the customer, but also ensuring continuous availability for critical business applications. Gartner's Donna Scott moderated a distinguished, cross-industry panel of customers including Overstock.com, the Mayo Foundation and Bank of America, each of which provided recommendations on how organizations can better manage their critical systems for the highest levels of availability, as well as how to test and maintain service level agreements. While a small percentage of organizations have achieved 99.9% real-time data availability, considered "best in class" by Gartner, the majority still average about 99.5% real-time data availability. The panelists agreed that continuous availability of real-time data is not a project with a clear beginning or end, but rather a process that involves ongoing planning, testing, and practice - a set of coordinated efforts toward reaching as close to 100% availability as possible.

GoldenGate sustains a high level of customer satisfaction largely through customer participation at the annual user conference and formal channels for feedback. GoldenGate Real-Time 2006 introduced two new SIGs in banking and healthcare, industries in which GoldenGate has maintained a strong presence. In addition to the user conference and the GoldenGate Customer Advisory Board, the SIGs provide another avenue for feedback on product direction and strategy, giving GoldenGate further insight into the customer experience.
